Embracing Your Divine Purpose and Allah’s Boundless Mercy
Finding Purpose and Trusting in Allah’s Mercy
The Quran reminds us in Surah Al-Mu’minun
“Then did you think that We created you uselessly?” 23:115
This powerful verse reassures us that every creation of Allah has a purpose. No human, animal, bird, or insect is sent into this world without a divine reason. Every individual carries a unique purpose, even if it remains unrecognized until the appointed time.
Yet, many of us spend our lives questioning our worth, consumed by thoughts of inadequacy, sinfulness, or rejection. We fear that others dislike us or that our sins make us unworthy of Allah’s forgiveness. This self-doubt is often fueled by Satan, whose mission is to sow uncertainty about ourselves and Allah in our hearts. Instead of succumbing to these doubts, we must anchor ourselves in our faith and maintain a positive outlook about ourselves and Allah’s mercy.
Allah’s mercy surpasses our shortcomings. No matter the weight of our sins, His forgiveness is rooted in His infinite compassion, not our own merits. As humans, we are all sinners—no one is perfectly righteous. The best among us are those who sincerely repent and turn back to Allah. Claiming to be sinless is a falsehood, for every person errs. True virtue lies in seeking forgiveness and striving to improve.
Rather than comparing ourselves to others—such as those who pray diligently or perform regular dhikr—we should draw inspiration from them. Instead of dwelling on our perceived flaws, we should pray to be counted among the righteous. Let us trust that even if the world rejects us, Allah loves us and is ready to forgive.
We must stop overthinking and allowing negativity to make us mentally unwell. Replace thoughts of being “the worst” with hope in Allah’s mercy and acceptance. Let us strive to emulate the virtuous, remain steadfast in our deen, and trust in Allah’s plan for us.
O Allah, include us among those who are righteous, destined for Paradise, whose deeds are accepted, and who enter Jannah without accountability. Open the gates of Paradise for us and free us from fear.
Ameen!
